Grupo Motta inaugurated the Forest Irrigation and Zero Effluent Project, 2.5 km from the Calisa plant, where the effluent treatment system is located that will supply the farm with irrigation water. It consists of 4,500 meters of pipes and 77.5 km of ditches to supply the 32 forested hectares.
The positive impact on the environment translates into benefits such as:
Reduction of the water footprint: by reusing the treated water in industrial processes.
Reduction of the carbon footprint: the implanted trees purify the air, providing enough oxygen for a population of approximately 6,400 people.
Minimization of the impact on the water resource: the root system of the trees acts as a biological filter, capturing the remaining organic load of the effluent.
Circular Economy. As fresh water is a limited resource (only 0.5% of the planet's total water is usable), the forestry project reuses the wastewater of the establishment, incorporating it as a key input in a new production process.
Grupo Motta maintains the same approach in each of its projects, which is to harmonize soil, landscape and environmental conservation with economic and social development.
