Grupo Motta presented its new 2019-2020 sustainability report with the aim of showing the progress it is making in its three main work pillars: Health and Quality of Life, Community and People Development and Environment.
The report provides economic data of the company and information on its positioning with respect to the poultry activity. It stands out that it is one of the main exporting companies in the sector with a participation greater than 45% of its production for international markets through its company CALISA and that it continues to lead the field as the main supplier of laying BB chicks for egg producing companies. largest in the country, with Cabaña Avícola Feller.
In turn, the report highlights the work and investments that Grupo Motta carried out in the pandemic, through the Activate program, with supplies and products that were produced in the company and delivered to health centers and hospitals in the region.
Regarding the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals, actions are detailed in the aforementioned pillars and their link to said goals.
In terms of health and quality of life, linked to SDG 2 Zero Hunger and SDG 12 Responsible Production and Consumption, during 2020 Grupo Motta concluded the reformulation of chicken meat products, battered (cooked and raw), frozen individually (classics) made in plant Roast, reducing sodium by 51% less compared to the previous formula and increasing protein by 25%, also compared to previous formula.
Another important action was the donation of 7,918 kg of chicken protein products delivered to the Paraná Food Bank. The work on food safety and the promotion of healthy habits is another of the points highlighted in the report.
Community and People Development, describes the programs carried out related to SDG4 - Quality education, SDG8 - Decent work and economic growth, SDG 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure, SDG11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities. At this point, the link with local / regional schools and the work for the training of students are detailed. The prioritization of local labor with 726 direct jobs and the development of local suppliers, with 99.3% of national purchase, is the result of a sustained business policy in pursuit of the community and its development.
Regarding Environment: SDG 6- Clean water and sanitation, SDG 7-Affordable and non-polluting energy, SDG 13-Climate action-, the report presents detailed information on the pillars that make up environmental management: rational use of water resources, energy efficiency, waste management, recycling, forestry, alternative energy, environmental awareness and efficient use of resources. The forestry project in Racedo, with the implantation of a total of 27,000 trees in 32 hectares, with a density of 833 plants per hectare, allows the generation of clean air to supply an equivalent of 6000 people, in addition to reducing the footprint carbon, water footprint and circular economy.
And finally, in order to achieve SDG 16 Alliances to achieve the objectives, the importance of encouraging work with institutions and the public sector is detailed, prioritizing transparency and the achievement of the sustainable policies that are required.
With this Report, Grupo Motta complies with the commitment assumed since 2004 with the United Nations Global Compact and its contribution to the United Nations 2030 Agenda that is promoted worldwide from the public and private sectors through 17 SDGs.
Sembrando Futuro, the title of the new report, is the motto that synthesizes the BEING AND DOING of Grupo Motta.
